GENIOUS SERVICES WARRANTY POLICY
Last Updated: May 2026
1. OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
At Genious Services (Pty) Ltd, we take pride in the quality of our workmanship and the reliability of the parts we install. We stand behind every repair we perform and want you to have complete confidence in our service.
This Warranty Policy explains exactly what is covered, for how long, what is excluded, and how to make a claim. It applies to all devices repaired by Genious Services and is read together with our Terms of Service and the Service & Repair Form you completed at check‑in.
Warranty Period: You selected your warranty period (between 1 and 6 months) on the Service & Repair Form at the time of drop‑off. The warranty period begins on the date you collect your repaired device from our workshop.
2. WHAT IS COVERED
Our warranty covers the specific repair work we performed and the parts we directly installed as part of that repair.
- Labour: The workmanship of our certified technicians in performing the specific repair.
- Parts: The replacement components we supplied and installed (e.g., screens, batteries, charging ports, ICs, connectors, etc.).
- Defects: Manufacturing defects in the parts supplied, or faults arising directly from our workmanship (e.g., a loose connection, a part failing prematurely due to a quality issue).
If a covered fault occurs within your chosen warranty period, we will fix it at no charge to you – including parts and labour.
3. WHAT IS NOT COVERED (EXCLUSIONS)
While we stand behind our work, the warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by factors outside our control. These exclusions are set out below:
Exclusions include (but are not limited to):
- Physical damage: Cracks, dents, shattered glass, bent frames, or broken connectors caused by drops, impacts, pressure, or mishandling after the repair.
- Liquid damage: Any moisture, spillage, corrosion, or humidity damage that occurs after the device leaves our workshop.
- Power surges / electrical damage: Damage caused by faulty chargers, lightning strikes, unstable power supply, or incorrect voltage.
- Misuse, abuse, or neglect: Damage resulting from improper use, failure to follow care instructions, or intentional damage.
- Unauthorised repairs or tampering: Any attempt by a third party (non‑Genious technician) to open, modify, or repair the device after our work will automatically void this warranty.
- Software issues, viruses, or malware: Problems arising from software corruption, operating system errors, app conflicts, or security breaches (unless we performed a software installation as part of the repair – then only that installation is covered).
- Pre‑existing faults: Any fault that existed before the repair, but was not part of the specific work we were contracted to perform. For example, if we replaced your screen, we do not warrant the battery or the motherboard.
- Unrelated components: Components not directly touched, repaired, or replaced as part of the specific repair. (See also Board‑level repair below).
- Data or accessories: Data loss is not covered (refer to our Terms of Service). Accessories (chargers, cases, cables, SIM cards, etc.) are also excluded unless they were specifically repaired or replaced by us.
3.1 Special Exclusion: Board‑Level Repairs & Reprogramming
Board‑level repairs (micro‑soldering, logic board trace repair, power IC replacement, etc.) are highly intricate. This warranty covers the hardware fault we were asked to fix (e.g., restoring power to a dead board).
- No liability for reprogramming: Once we restore power or fix a specific hardware circuit, the device may still require additional firmware or software configuration (e.g., BIOS re‑flashing, EC reprogramming, NAND re‑serialization, or security chip pairing). Genious Services is a hardware repair company, not a software or firmware programming company. We do not guarantee that we can or will perform such programming, and we are not liable if your device requires external reprogramming to achieve full functionality after our hardware repair.
- Unrelated circuits: Repairing a power‑related fault does not guarantee that other circuits (e.g., Wi‑Fi, audio, camera, USB, or display backlight) will function. Those are separate faults requiring separate repairs.
⚠️ Important for board‑level clients: If we repair a "no power" issue, and the device then needs a BIOS flash or EC firmware update to boot, this falls outside our warranty scope. You will need to arrange this with a data recovery or programming specialist at your own cost.
4. WARRANTY PERIOD
Your warranty period was selected at check‑in and is clearly marked on your Service & Repair Form.
- Options available: 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, or 6 months.
- Start date: The warranty period commences on the date of collection of your repaired device.
- Expiry: The warranty expires at the end of the selected month period (e.g., if you chose 3 months and collected on 1 June, it expires on 1 September).
If you are unsure of your warranty expiry date, please contact us, and we will verify it using your job ticket number.
5. HOW TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM
If you believe a fault covered by this warranty has arisen, please follow the process below:
- Contact us: Email [email protected] or call 078 298 5294 to notify us of your warranty claim. Please have your Job Ticket # ready.
- Return your device: Bring the device, along with your original Service & Repair Form, to our workshop at Unit 28, 587 Jones Road, Jet Park, Boksburg, 1459. We do not courier or collect devices (refer to our Scammer Alert).
- Inspection: Our technician will inspect the device to verify the fault and confirm it falls within the scope of the warranty.
- Resolution: If the claim is valid, we will repair or replace the defective part at no charge and return the device to you as soon as possible.
Please note: If our inspection determines that the fault is caused by an exclusion (e.g., liquid damage or physical impact), we will provide a written quote for the additional repair. You may then choose to proceed or decline, but no warranty work will be performed for excluded faults.
6. OUR REMEDY
If a valid warranty claim is made, Genious Services will, at our sole election:
- Repair the defective part (or the area of the repair) free of charge, using new or refurbished parts of equivalent quality; or
- Replace the defective part free of charge.
This remedy is your exclusive and sole remedy under this warranty. We do not offer cash refunds, store credit, or reimbursement for third‑party repairs performed outside our workshop.
7. WARRANTY TRANSFER
This warranty is provided to the original customer who submitted the device for repair. It is not transferable to any subsequent owner or third party.
8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (where applicable), Genious Services’ total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to our services or this warranty is limited to:
- The amount paid by you for the specific repair service in question, or
- R2,000.00 (two thousand Rand), whichever is lower.
Under no circumstances shall Genious Services be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, or loss of business opportunities.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary under South African law.
9. GOVERNING LAW
This Warranty Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from this policy or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
